Overview

This course addresses:  the need for barriers; the performance capabilities of standard barrier, terminals, and crash cushions; ; and the selection, design, and layout parameters necessary to result in an optimal barrier installation.
Objectives

Participants in this training will be able to answer the following questions:
. When is barrier the “best” choice for shielding a hazardous condition?
. How do different systems perform under crash test conditions?
. How does a designer select a barrier system and design it to fit a specific location? Materials presented are specific to Arizona and references will be made to ADOT’s standard drawings, standard specifications, manuals and typical practices. 

Who Should attend?
ADOT and local transportation agency personnel, consultants and others having direct responsibilities for designing barrier installations.
