Basic Work Zone Traffic Control / Flagger Training
AZ LTAP training is only available to persons actively employed by an Local Public Agency (i.e cities, town, counties) or an Arizona Council of Government/Metro Planning Organization. Members of the general public or persons seeking this training to become employed by such agencies should go to ATSSA: American Traffic Safety Services Association. This course is intended for individuals who perform flagging and temporary traffic control activities. This training session includes lectures, videos, and hands-on exercises to present the following: proper use of personal protective equipment, work zone components and types of operations, flagging procedures, proper and improper flagging operations, as well as methods of communicating with workers and the public. Individuals performing flagging operations on any Arizona roadway must be trained and qualified every four (4) years. Those who successfully pass the course will be qualified flaggers.
