Hazardous Materials Descriptions

HM01 Decontamination
Coastal       17 Minutes

Decontamination is a key part to controlling any hazardous waste incident.  This important video program will help train employees on proper deacon procedures. Video covers: Tool drop, Wash/rinse, Clothing/equipment removal, Shower/dry/redress, Record-keeping.

HM02 Drum Handling
Coastal      18 Minutes

When handling and moving drums filled with hazardous materials, employees must be properly trained to do this safely.  This video program will help you complete that required training.  Video covers: Inspecting drums and worksites, Handling and moving drums, Opening/sampling, Characterization/staging, and Decontamination.

HM03 Emergency Notification System
Mayday     10 Minutes

This program stresses the need for proper emergency notification, and how important it is whether a person has a mayday system on their vehicle.  These systems work off of a GPS system.

HM04 First on Scene
Chemical Manufacturing Association     32 Minutes

Explanation of first on scene key points:  1. First protect yourself   2. Identify the hazard   3. Secure the scene  4. Obtain further aid and assistance.

HM05 Harmful Materials Awareness for Construction Workers
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation       23 Minutes

Designed for the construction worker; the video explains the importance of following set guidelines for handling hazardous materials to help protect health and safety.

HM06 Harmful Materials Awareness for Design Workers
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation       25 Minutes

This video is geared toward the design staff and the importance of assessing a job for hazardous wastes before beginning a project.  It will explain harmful materials and situations, what to do to protect oneself, and how to do the job correctly.

HM07 Harmful Materials Awareness for Maintenance Workers
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation       21 Minutes

Explains the different chemicals that are possibly found in the different jobs and how to complete the task in an efficient and safe manner.  The video also discusses that most hazardous materials will be in a solid or liquid form and gives real work situations to help become more knowledgeable about hazardous products.

HM08 HazMat Transportation- What you don't know can hurt you

Everyone involved in shipping, handling, transporting and/or storing hazardous materials must be trained in HazMat procedures.  This video program will help supervisors and employees understand the DOT regulations and comply with 49 CFR 171-180.  Video covers: Scope of hazardous materials regulations, Definitions, terms and requirements, and Initial response to HAZMAT incidents.

HM09 "Hazardous Materials in Transit Slide Show"
Connecticut Department of Transportation       28 Minutes

This video explains the danger of mishandling hazardous materials being hauled and the importance of operators knowing the placards of the materials.

HM10 "Hazardous Materials Program An Introduction and Overview"
Arizona Department of Public Services       17 Minutes

Introduces most elements of hazardous materials and how the elements are frequently combined and responsibilities often overlap.  The video will outline each element and determine which are your responsibilities and how the unit's operation relate to other offices and organizations.

HM11 Hazardous Materials Series
Federal Highway Administration       86 Minutes

To become a better transporter, this video explains awareness, safety, transportation of hazardous materials, placards, and what chemicals can be hauled safely together.

HM12 Hazwoper Training Awareness
Coastal     20 Minutes

Designed for all employees, this informative video program reviews awareness-level training.  It can be used for new employee orientation and for mandatory refresher training. Video covers: Legislative background, Hazardous materials definitions, Activities and workers covered by the HAZWOPER standard, and Awareness-level training.

HM13 Hazwoper Training Response Levels

This award-winning video program is geared toward operation-level training.  It will help designated employees respond to an emergency.  Videos covers: Operations-level training, Hazard and risk assessment, Personal protective equipment, Control, containment, confinement, Decontamination, and Standard operating procedures.

HM14 Incident Command Systems: When Seconds Count

This award-winning video program will help you establish an emergency response plan, respond to an incident and get the situation under control.  Video covers: Emergency response plan, The Incident Command System, Small/large/multi-county incidents, Coordinating support services, and Situation under control.

HM15 Lab Packs
Coastal       16 Minutes

This video program examines proper lab pack procedures as well as compatible waste groups and shipping and packing procedures.  Help your workers use lab packs and use them right.  Video covers: Compatible waste groups, Shipping and packing procedures, Treatment procedures and facilities, and Incineration/chemical treatment/landfill.

HM16 Small Spills and Leaks
Coastal       18 Minutes

This video program focuses on controlling small spills and leaks.  IT covers the essential procedures all employees should know if a leak should occur on their shift.  Video covers: Supervisor notification, Securing the area, PPE, Controlling and containing the spill, and Cleanup/decontamination.

HM17 Transportation & Identification of Precursor Chemicals
USDOT/ Drug Enforcement Agency       25 Minutes

This video explains that precursor chemicals such as acetic anhydride, acetone, benzyl chloride, ethyl ether, hydroic acid, potassium are involved with making drugs.  There are many more chemicals that are not controlled that are being used.
