Drainage Descriptions

DR02 Corrugated Steel Pipe
National Corrugated Steel Pipe Association     18 Minutes

This video exhibits three different types of corrugated steel pipes for a wide range of drainage: 1. Culvert  2. Storm drainage   3. Sewer drainage.

DR03 Drainage Structure

This video looks at drainage structures in what they are meant to do and how they function best.  Objective of the video is to discuss: 1. purpose of drainage structures, 2. Functional requirements, 3. Hazardous situations caused by drainage structures, and 4. proper construction and maintenance.

DR04 Importance of Roadway Drainage

Explanation of how important it is to have proper drainage on roadways, to know where all box culverts are located, and that the culverts are kept clean.  Water on roadways can causes problems for traffic and road maintenance.  

DR05 Maintain Drainage

Water is the road's worst enemy.  Water can cause rutting and base failures.  The video instructs how to keep culverts clean and free of debris with different types of equipment to ensure water will flow easily.

DR06 Pipe Placement

Discusses the placing of cross pipes that are needed to control the flow of water.  The goal of the video is to improve quality, productivity, and reduce costs through training.  The video details the basic steps in pipe placement: traffic control, size, location and slope, excavate trench, bedding and cradle, backfill, and end treatment.

DR08 The Importance of Road Drainage

The quality of your maintenance and rehabilitation program is key to keeping water away from roads.  Video discusses: drainage considerations, inspection of the system, surface maintenance (routine repairs and preventative maintenance), drainage maintenance, slope protection, drainage openings, and liability for elements. 

DR09 Soil Erosion and Sediment Control

Erosion of sediments from construction jobs are causing problems for our environment failure to control this results in higher construction costs.  This tape will show proper procedures in controlling and minimizing soil ersion and to control run off of sediments.

DR10 Maintaining the Ditch and Surface Cross Drains

This video provides a comprehensive instructions for correctly constructing and maintaining ditches, culverts and various surface cross drains. It highlights rolling dips, earthen water bars and interceptor dips. Covers heeling the ditch, pulling the ditch, maintaining surface cross drains, rolling drain dips, interceptor dips, earthern water bars, and open-top drainage devices.
