Heavy Equipment Program

The AZ LTAP Heavy Equipment Training and Certification Program is a comprehensive program with a dedicated, full-time heavy equipment trainer. The program consists of certification on Motorgrader I and II, Backhoe I and II, Bulldozer I and II, and Front End Loader I and II. Each piece of equipment is trained for 30 hours a week (3 or 4 days), with 3 participants per piece of equipment.

Steps to register for the LTAP Heavy Equipment Training

  1. Contact the LTAP to request the Heavy Equipment training and certification program.

  2. Upon Request, the LTAP Staff will fax Heavy Equipment registration forms.

  3. Agency must complete the Heavy Equipment Agency Contact, Agency Registration Form, Signed Check off / Responsibilities List, and a "no-show" Policy Agreement. Upon completion, fax back to the LTAP @ (602) 712-3007.

  4. Instructor will call agency contact for additional information required.

  5. Course conducted (30 hours in 3 or 4 days, agency’s choice).

  6. Certificates will be sent within two weeks after completion of training.

  7. The instructor will do any necessary follow-up (if required).

Policies

  • Equipment to be trained on levels I & II: Backhoe, Motor grader, Bulldozer, and Front-end Loader

  • All participants begin training at Level I. Instructor may "fast track" participants depending on experience, techniques and quality of work.

  • All students that pass Level I need to have up to 120 Hours OJT (Hands on experience) before advancing to Level II. Again, based on instructor’s discretion, participant may be "fast tracked".

  • Required paperwork must be returned as soon as possible to ensure course. Training is based on first come, first serve basis.

  • If course is to be cancelled LTAP requires a one-month notice prior to the training start date.

r Classroom for 4-5 hours on the first day

r Whiteboard or Flipchart

 r Equipment

r One piece of equipment per three participants

r Reliable equipment

r Equipment Support

r Transportation of equipment to and from training site

r Training/Work Area

r Blue Staked!!

r Free as possible of obstructions (overhead and underground)

r Large enough to hold up to five pieces of equipment
